With its location close to the foothills of the Thuringian Forest, Eisenach has an almost paradisiacal flair. The area around Eisenach is known for its beautiful natural scenery, which has rightly been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is criss-crossed by some of the most beautiful hiking and cycling routes anywhere. There are sporty hiking and mountain-biking routes, as well as leisurely browse routes, leading picturesquely along the river, through low mountain ranges, into the nearby Hainich National Park and all around the city.
Eisenach is also ideally connected to the Thuringian city chain and numerous cycle routes. Once you have conquered these routes, you will not soon forget them. All routes are manageable in any case, offer fantastic views and lots of fun.
Hiking & Biking
Experience nature up close and literally let the walls close in on you. In Dragon Gorge, the narrowest part of the trail is no wider than 70 cm.
